Gary, one of the lovely gentlemen we support loves writing poetry. For Halloween this year, he has written this poem called ‘Wind in the Trees’, which he is happy for us to share with you. We hope you enjoy reading it!
‘Wind in the Trees’ by Gary
As Hallows’ Eve does rushes
The wind through trees ‘n’ bushes,
As lights in houses filter out,
Let there be no doubt
That demons are at play,
Once, and once again, as the night relieves day.
Maniacs ‘n’ ghouls,
Through foggy avenues ‘n’ schools,
Sleep tight and never cast aside
The hollow where evil hides,
Watching, waiting,
Forever anticipating…
Yes, remember to keep inside,
Where you are secure and in kind
Where you belong…
…as the stranger whistles a tuneless song.
They cometh in darkly October waves,
As nightly dusk and cold parades,
Pervades, invades.
For tonight, they come home
From the fog, each alone,
Watching, waiting…
…anticipating.
Beware – Old Hallows’ Eve,
When the wind hits the trees,
Be sure to lock doors secure
For that might just provide a cure,
Yet, still, we’ll flinch from the solemn knock,
By a fist hard as rock,
Get ready ‘n’ beware, for he’s alone there – outside…
…watching, waiting,
Forever anticipating.
