Initially Tiffany considered pursuing a career in Law, so she chose to study Law, English Literature, Art and Psychology A’ Levels at Six Form College. However, she had a change of heart and decided to do a degree in film studies at university in Southampton. Whilst studying for her degree she also worked as a Support Worker with adults with Learning Disabilities in a supported living setting. On leaving university her first role was working as a Support Worker for a small independent company that owned two adjacent supported living homes for adults with learning disabilities. She later moved on to work for a well-known charity for people with learning disabilities. During her 11 years with the charity, she had various roles including Support Worker and Deputy Manager, and also trained as a trainer in Autism and as a recruitment manager. She then moved to work as a Senior Support Worker for a large independent provider of mental health services where she worked in a seven-bed semi secure unit for adults on the Autistic Spectrum with challenging behaviours. When the service manager left, Tiffany was promoted to Service Manager, and it was during this role that Tiffany first received training in PROACT-SCIPr-UK UK®. Tiffany’s next role was working at nationwide nursing agency where she worked as a Recruitment Consultant, Senior Consultant and finally as a Registered Manager of her local branch in Essex. To be able to move closer to her family in the North West, Tiffany joined Gray Healthcare as a Bank Worker in March 2020. She applied for the role of PROACT-SCIPr-UK® Instructor in December 2020 and the Lead role followed soon after. In August 2022, our training course was assessed and endorsed by BILD as meeting the restraint reduction network guidelines.
‘I believe that anyone who has been restricted in some form, due to the setting they are living in, their diagnosis or their behaviours, deserve an opportunity to live in the community and to live the life they want. I am excited to work for a company that shares this vision. On a personal level, I feel heard by my colleagues, feel that everyone, no matter what role they have in the organisation, is approachable and supportive and I enjoy having the autonomy to utilise my skills.’
