About Richard Fluskey

When did you start working for Gray Healthcare?

August 2024

Your role:

As Head of Talent Acquisition, Richard is responsible for workforce planning at Gray Healthcare.  This entails making sure we have the right people in the right place and at the right time for the business to progress and grow.

Before joining Gray Healthcare:

Richard’s first job opportunity on leaving school was as a Support Worker in a residential care setting.  This inspired Richard to train as a general nurse at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital in his home city.  Following completion of his degree in nursing studies, Richard worked as a general nurse on general, neurorehabilitation, vascular and gastroenterology wards.   A desire to improve working conditions for nurses prompted Richard to move to London to complete a degree in Health Service Management at the University of East London.  During his studies, Richard worked as a bank agency nurse and a chance request from the agency to interview a nurse on their behalf resulted in Richard moving into his first recruitment role within the health and social care sector.  With his background in nursing, Richard was quickly promoted and enjoyed many successful years working in London in senior roles for a number of large agencies specialising in recruitment of nursing and care staff, as well as senior in-house roles for large corporate companies.  A desire to move back to Liverpool to be close to family and friends resulted in a first step move closer to home to Manchester working for a large private healthcare company before a final move back to Liverpool.

What do you like about working at Gray Healthcare?

‘I have had a really lovely introduction to the business. Everyone one I have met so far has been warm, friendly and enthusiastic, and I’ve also had a fantastic onboarding experience.  I’m looking forward to attending my training in PROACT-SCIPr-UK®,  which everyone tells me is phenomenal.’
