As an Occupational Therapist, Eloise’s role involves supporting people to become more independent, helping them return to activities/hobbies that they previously enjoyed (as well as developing new interests) and supporting them to have the best quality of life possible.
Eloise holds a MSc in Occupational Therapy from the University of Cumbria.
On leaving school Eloise was interested in joining the Police Force so she went to university to study Criminology. One Summer, her grandmother needed some Occupational Therapy input and when Eloise saw how much her grandmother benefitted from therapy, she had a complete rethink about what she wanted to do. She applied to the University of Cumbria to study for a Masters in Occupational Therapy and also volunteered to work as a patient driver to enhance her communication skills. Post degree her first role as an Occupational Therapist was with the council supporting people following discharge from hospital. This role involved helping people short-term whilst they recovered from surgery, and then moving on to help the next person needing support. Whilst she loved this role, it highlighted that she would prefer to work in a role where she could build longer-term therapeutic relationships with people so she applied to join Gray Healthcare.
‘The team – everyone is so friendly, approachable and always willing to help. I’m looking forward to working with the people we support and helping them get on with their lives.’
Friendly, supportive and caring
