Aligned with the NHS Transforming Care Service Model, we support individuals to move out of long-stay institutions and into their local areas to a home of their own. The majority of the people we support come to us from either a locked or secure hospital. Others come to us from brain injury rehabilitation centres, residential homes, children’s homes or residential schools.
It is not unusual for the people we care for to be subject to one of the following legal frameworks:
- Deprivation of Liberty Safeguarding Order (DoLS)
- Court of Protection (COP)
- Community Treatment Order (CTO)
- Restriction Order
- Guardianship
Because we are registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) under the hospital directorate rather than the social care directorate, we can support individuals with forensic histories. We work with the Ministry of Justice and probation services and have experience of supporting people with complex offending behaviours including individuals detained under Section 37/41 of the Mental Health Act 1983 (2007). We also work in collaboration with MAPPA to ensure that the people we support in the community experience the least restrictive lives possible.
