Role Description
Gray Healthcare are recruiting a Female Support Worker, within the Lichfield area of Staffordshire to support a young lady who has a diagnosis of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder, Autism, and Learning Disabilities.
The person we support lives independently in their own home, receiving 1-2-1 support 24 hours a day.
They are supported by a female team on shifts of days and waking nights.
The person we support loves fashion, enjoys listening to music, cooking and accessing the community.
Bank Female Support Worker Required Skills and Experience
- Social care experience, ideally within Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder and with some experience of supporting individuals with Autism and Learning Disabilities.
- Experience supporting individuals with behaviours perceived as challenging.
- Experience implementing detailed care plans and risk assessments.
- Experience adapting communication skills, verbal and non-verbal, to aid understanding of the supported individual.
- Motivated to promote engagement in meaningful activity
- A desire to support the individual in their cultural and spiritual needs
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- You must have current Right to Work in the UK and have been employed in the UK for at least 6 months. We no longer have any certificates of sponsorship available and are unable to consider sponsorship.
- This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references
Working Hours
0 hour contract consisting of 12 hour shifts 8am to 8pm, 8pm to 8am. Days and Waking nights
Induction and Training
We provide an initial week of training which is a combination of online training. (Company induction, systems, and Medication.) Followed by in-person training on PROACT-SCIPr-UK which is a PBS approach to least restrictive practice, this is a therapeutic and proven alternative to restraint dominant approaches. You will then complete the person-centred training, specific to the person that you are supporting. Training continues throughout your time with Gray Healthcare, and we encourage you to develop and grow your career with us.

A Girls’ Day Out
To most people, my best day might sound a bit ordinary but for me, it was a day that signified just how much progress the lady I’m supporting has made since living in her own home with our support.. The lady I support prefers to stay in her local area as unfamiliar, crowded places can make her feel anxious and scared.
An Illuminating Day
My best day working at Gray Healthcare was a day trip to Blackpool with a gentleman we support. The team and I never thought for one moment that we would actually make it to Blackpool, but we did, and it was such a fantastic day! This person we support likes detail and routine, we always do our homework and plan each outing to the ‘nth’ degree.
A Grand Day Out
When he first came to us at Gray Healthcare he was low in mood and had no motivation whatsoever. Every time we suggested an outing, he would think of a reason not to leave the house. Every day followed the same pattern, and at times it did feel that we might never make a positive difference to his life. My best day out has to be the first time we took a day trip to York.
Footsteps in the Sand
When the team first met him, he would not speak, would hardly leave the house, found it difficult to build relationships with people and would not get involved in new activities. He did not like to be seen or heard by others and would not leave any finger or foot prints behind.
A Gift Horse?
When I arrived at the hospital, I had to reverse the car and park as close to the entrance as possible because this gentleman was so frightened to walk the short distance to the car park. This anxiety was the result of being bullied all his life because of his learning disability. It was genuinely heartbreaking to see!
