To most people, my best day might sound a bit ordinary but for me, it was a day that signified just how much progress the lady I’m supporting has made since living in her own home with our support. Whilst the lady I support enjoys going out to the gym and to her local salon, she prefers to stay in her local area as unfamiliar, crowded places can make her feel anxious and scared. She agreed to try a trip out that was well outside of her comfort zone and outside her local area. On an unseasonal sunny day, three of us caught the train to the nearest city centre and we had such a fantastic day out. We went clothes shopping, went to a café for some food and it was what I would call a proper girls’ day out! We chose a day in the middle of the week when we knew it would be less crowded and this worked brilliantly. To see her having such a good time was just magical, and to know you’ve been instrumental in creating a lasting memory is just the best feeling ever. We’re now planning other trips out starting with swimming lessons.
