Why Gray Healthcare?

At Gray Healthcare, our team, comprising Complex Care Support Workers, Mental Health Support Workers, Learning Disability Support Workers, and many more – are united by a shared mission. We believe there is a better way to support individuals with complex needs outside of hospitals and other institutions. We are passionate about delivering person-centred care in its truest sense and are not afraid to question the way services are delivered.  Above all we all want to make a lasting difference to the lives of the people we support.

Our organic growth has enabled us to attract compassionate individuals, who genuinely care about the support they provide and are passionate about our values and goals.  This approach is shown in the work of our team, from community support workers, to learning disability support workers and everyone in between – who provide an exceptional level of care not only to those they support, but also their colleagues.  We see examples of this every single day.

We take pride in our award-winning teams, including our registered mental health nurses and community mental health support workers, who together achieve remarkable outcomes for the people they support.

We’re all on a journey together, ‘bringing healthcare home’, and our ambition is to help more people with complex needs move out of institutions and into a home of their own where they can really get on with living their best lives.  If you share this ambition, we’d love to hear from you.

Learning and Development

We personalise every single aspect of the support we deliver.  Because you will be supporting individuals with complex needs, each year you will receive over 60 hours training tailored specifically to the individual you will be supporting.

Training is delivered by our own Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and commences at induction with refresher and new courses added throughout your employment.  Our training programme can be adapted very quickly if we notice any changes in the presentation of any of the people we support.  Everyone at Gray Healthcare, including those working in our support services team, receive training in Positive Behaviour Support, Trauma-Informed Care and PROACT-SCIPr-UK ®.

The PROACT-SCIPr-UK® curriculum is certificated by Bild Association for Certificated Training (Act) against the Restraint Reduction Network Training Standards (RRN).

We have an active career progression programme, and we have seen many of our colleagues move into new roles, some a natural progression from the role they were in, others taking a completely different direction. Whatever career path you choose, we will support you.

My Best Day

We asked our colleagues to share their Gray Healthcare 'My Best Day' stories with us. We hope you enjoy!

A Gift Horse?

When I arrived at the hospital, I had to reverse the car and park as close to the entrance as possible because this gentleman was so frightened to walk the short distance to the car park. This anxiety was the result of being bullied all his life because of his learning disability. It was genuinely heartbreaking to see!

An Illuminating Day

My best day working at Gray Healthcare was a day trip to Blackpool with a gentleman we support.  The team and I never thought for one moment that we would actually make it to Blackpool, but we did, and it was such a fantastic day!  This person we support likes detail and routine, we always do our homework and plan each outing to the ‘nth’ degree.

A Grand Day Out

When he first came to us at Gray Healthcare he was low in mood and had no motivation whatsoever. Every time we suggested an outing, he would think of a reason not to leave the house. Every day followed the same pattern, and at times it did feel that we might never make a positive difference to his life. My best day out has to be the first time we took a day trip to York.

Footsteps in the Sand

When the team first met him, he would not speak, would hardly leave the house, found it difficult to build relationships with people and would not get involved in new activities. He did not like to be seen or heard by others and would not leave any finger or foot prints behind.

Current Complex Care Support Worker Vacancies

We are always looking for positive, compassionate and caring people who are keen to grow and develop their careers.  It can be quite a challenging environment at times so resilience and vigilance are important, but it is hugely rewarding to see the people we support improve; being able to do something today that they could not do before because of you!  If you are looking for a role as either a Mental Health Support Worker or Learning Disability Support Worker, we would love to meet you.

‘The support you receive from the wider team is phenomenal!  Whilst some days are challenging you never feel alone – the responsibility is always shared.  My line manager is always checking on my wellbeing and that of the teams.  There is an excellent management structure in place which ensures support is always available to anyone who needs it.  Once when I was going through a difficult time, the regular telephone calls and emails from my line manager meant so much to me.  I’ve never known support like it.  Feeling valued like this means I don’t ever want to leave.’
